Michalina Bigaj. Red Greenhouse
29 September 2018 – 6 January 2019
Curator: Leszek Golec
The title of the exhibition refers to a special kind of greenhouse in which red light is used to optimize the production of plants at industrial scale. Red light gives the highest efficiency of photosynthesis in plants. However, plants grown only with its use show changes in their appearance. Their leaves become thin and large, and the plants become excessively long. During the exhibition you will be able to see an installation transforming the interior of the former winter garden into the eponymous ‘red greenhouse’ – a greenhouse full of sculptures, objects, deformed forms only visually symbolizing products of nature but in reality remaining its simulacrum.
